Q. Who can complete a new IRS e-file Application to Participate in IRS e-file ?

A. Anyone who registers with IRS e-Services can create a new (or revised) application online to participate in IRS e-file. You may also complete and mail in a paper Form 8633 if you do not use the electronic online option for submitting a new or revised application. Individuals are encouraged to register with IRS e-Services and create a new (or revised) IRS e-file Application

Q. Can practitioners check the status of their e-file application online ?

A. Yes. Practitioners can check the status of their IRS e-file application online after registering for e-Services. After a practitioner has registered for e-Services, practitioners may check the status of their e-file application completed online or by paper Form 8633

Q. Do I have to submit a fingerprint card?

A. If you are not an attorney, banking official, C.P.A., enrolled agent, or an officer of a publicly owned corporation, a fingerprint card is required. Fingerprints must be taken by a trained specialist. Individuals cannot take their own fingerprints. The e-file program fingerprint cards are unique and should be obtained by calling Andover Campus at 1-866-255-0654. Please review page 3 of form 8633 instructions, “filing requirements.”

Q. What other e-Services Web-based products can I use if I apply for e-file?

A. Authorized e-file Providers who are active participants in the IRS e-file program and who e-file five (5) or more individual or business tax returns in a calendar year can use the incentive e-Services products. The online products that will be available to qualifying EROs are the ability to :
File and modify POAs and TIAs with taxpayer consent
Electronically request and receive account transcripts
Electronically request or provide information to solve account problems and receive responses
The individual making the request must already have on file with the IRS, a valid Power of Attorney (POA) or Tax Information Authorization (TIA) in order to obtain a specific transcript or resolve a specific tax account issue.

Q.What is the advantage of using the e-Services? IRS e-file Application?

A. The design of the IRS e-file Application makes it easier to apply to participate in IRS e-file, catch many errors during input, ensure completeness of required data fields, and permit validation of information already contained in IRS databases, i.e. Enrolled Agent status (no need to submit credentials) and taxpayer identification number. The online application allows delegation of available e-Services privileges to other individuals within a firm (to use these delegations they must register individually)
